Commission launches State Aid Modernisation
On 8 May, the European Commission will adopt a Communication on State Aid Modernisation. The aim is to inform about the objectives of this integrated strategy, its key components - a variety of state aid instruments which are closely interlinked - and the adoption timetable. The main objectives are fostering growth in the internal market by supporting targeted and non-distortive state aid, focusing enforcement on aid cases with the biggest impact on the internal market, as well as streamlined rules and faster decisions.
Coreper II, Coreper I
The Permanent Representatives Committee or "Coreper" (Article 207 of the Treaty establishing the European Community) is responsible for preparing the work of the Council of the European Union. It consists of the Member States' ambassadors to the European Union ("Permanent Representatives") and is chaired by the Member State which holds the Council Presidency.
EC weekly meeting of the College
The European Commissioners meet every Wednesday in Brussels, except when the European Parliament holds its plenary session, in which case they meet on a Tuesday in Strasbourg.
European EMS forum 2012
The forum will explore the latest developments in relation to environmental management systems (EMAS, ISO 14001) and the interrelationship with other management systems (ISO 26000, ISO 50001) including the latest state of play on the EMAS reference documents.

Product safety – presentation of the annual report on Rapex
On 08 May, Commissioner John Dalli will present the key findings of the 2011 annual report published on that day concerning Rapex, the EU-wide rapid alert system for dangerous products. The findings of the report will include the trends in the number of products notified thanks to the system, the top product categories, the most active member states notifying unsafe products, and the countries of origin.
