European Ombudsman’s seminar: crisis and citizens' trust

Confronted with the economic and financial crisis, citizens in many Member States of the European Union (EU) are not only losing trust in their national governments, but are also increasingly sceptical of the EU's ability to find solutions to the worst crisis in its history.

The Council will have a policy debate on certain issues of the new multiannual financial framework. Regarding the cohesion policy legislative package, the Council is expected to reach a partial general approach on a number of thematic blocks of the package, notably programming, ex-ante conditionality, management and control, monitoring and evaluation, eligibility and major projects.The cohesion policy legislative package transmitted to the Council by the Commission in October 2011 includes in particular:

Passenger ship safety stakeholder conference

European Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas will attend the opening session of the Passenger ship safety stakeholder conference. He will present the Commission perspective on this topic.

The European Commission at the European seafood exposition
